That's Not My Jesus

At the Rock we have been talking about being deceived by false teaching and prophets. Today I just read about a live example of this. I was deeply saddened by what I was reading as I took a quick look at Google News today. Once again the “The Westboro Baptist Church, based in Topeka, Kansas is making headlines. I hate the fact that I am giving them space on my page but I need to make a point. The point is; that’s not my Jesus! I hate the fact that they say they are representing the church and God. It absolutely disgusts me that they would picket the funerals of those who lost their lives in Boston. Who in their right mind would picket the funeral of an eight year old? John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” You cannot call something a sin without having the love to deal with it. You see this all the time in church groups, not just Baptists who have forgotten what love is. They are usually hard-core people who do not have a true relationship with Jesus Christ. You cannot snatch someone from the fire without loving them. Jude 17 “But, dear friends, remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ foretold. 18 They said to you, “In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires.” 19 These are the people who divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit. 20 But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, 21 keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life. 22 Be merciful to those who doubt; 23 save others by snatching them from the fire; to others show mercy, mixed with fear—hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh.”

Also you cannot save someone from their sin if you do not call it a sin. Love does not mean we change what the word of God states. We must preach the truth of scripture but remember that most of scripture is pointed to the church itself. Yes North America is heading for Sodom and Gomorrah. Yes homosexuality is an abomination before God. Yes people have stopped following the word of God and it is weird to see everyone praying but you cannot hope to help people without love. The problem with this so-called church is that have forgotten what love is. Without the love of Christ these people are clanging symbols. 1 Corinthians 13:4 “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. These three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” So to Westboro Baptist Church, you are not a church nor do you represent the love of God. The Jesus you say you serve is not the one I serve. You make it very easy to show that in the last days there will be wolves in sheep’s’ clothing.
