As I have pondered this sermon today, once again God has made it abundantly clear that we are living in a desolate time. Once again I am not talking about the state of the union but the state of the church. As I reflect on our calling to ministry I realize that as time goes by, the deception God has shown me in the church was not just a little pocket of people who have been led astray Ezra 9:8 “but now, for a brief moment, the Lord our God has been gracious in leaving us a remnant and giving us a firm place in his sanctuary, and so our God gives light to our eyes and a little relief in our bondage.” This remnant is God’s promise. Romans 11:5 “So too, at the present time there is a remnant chosen by grace.” Aside from the remnant the church has been critically deceived. This abomination that causes desolation, this delusion brought on by God is because we have not followed God’s word wholeheartly. Notice I said God’s word, not man’s words about God of which most have followed wholeheartedly even unto death. Deuteronomy 4:2 “Do not add to what I command you and do not subtract from it, but keep the commands of the Lord your God that I give you.” The so-called denominational distinctives, those doctrines that keep the church divided are not what the bible is referring to when talking about sound doctrine. We have disobeyed and as Daniel said, Daniel 9:7 “Lord, you are righteous, but this day we are covered with shame—the people of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem and all Israel, both near and far, in all the countries where you have scattered us because of our unfaithfulness to you. 8 We and our kings, our princes and our ancestors are covered with shame, Lord, because we have sinned against you. 9 The Lord our God is merciful and forgiving, even though we have rebelled against him; 10 we have not obeyed the Lord our God or kept the laws he gave us through his servants the prophets. 11 All Israel has transgressed your law and turned away, refusing to obey you.” 2 Kings 22:13 “Great is the Lord’s anger that burns against us because those who have gone before us have not obeyed the words of this book; they have not acted in accordance with all that is written there concerning us.”
Today on the church calendar is Pentecost Sunday. Yes for most, Pentecost was a one time event that we simply remember by giving it a day but it has been forgotten for the most part as Christmas and Easter get all the emphasis, just as water baptism gets all the prominence. Sadly there is very little knowledge about the true Holy Spirit, thus very little emphasis. This lack of knowledge has led to a lack of sound doctrine which in turn enables doctrines of demons to infiltrate the church. John 16:13 “But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth.” This lack of the Holy Spirit has led to the chaos. Not only does the Holy Spirit guide in truth, He is the one that enables us to move in power to carry out our commission as disciples of Christ. David not kill a giant because he was good with a slingshot; he was anointed by the Holy Spirit. Samson was defeated because the Lord had left him. Gideon was not victorious on His own. He defeated the vast enemy in the power of the Holy Spirit. Peter and Paul did not preach and heal on their own. Stephen a man full of God’s grace and power, performed great wonders and signs among the people, did not do this on his own. These men were full of the Spirit and wisdom. Theses verses would be true of them. 1 Corinthians 12:4 “There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. 5 There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. 6 There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work. 7 Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. 8 To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, 10 to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues 11 All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.” The rejection of the gifts is a rejection of the Holy Spirit. From the perspective of the Holy Spirit there is only one way and that way is Jesus Christ.
Are we not to be like our teacher Jesus Christ? Luke 6:40 “The student is not above the teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like their teacher.” John 14:10 “Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. 11 Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves. 12 Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.” Luke 4:18 “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, 19 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” Are we not to be sent out in the power of the Holy Spirit and do the same?
Jesus himself was filled with the Holy Spirit and was baptized by John. Matthew 3:11 “I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me comes one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.” You will see in the following videos how this verse has been distorted. Luke 3:21 “When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized too. And as he was praying, heaven was opened 22 and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.” Luke 4:1 “Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, left the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, 2 where for forty days he was tempted by the devil.” Luke 4:14 “Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about him spread through the whole countryside. 15 He was teaching in their synagogues, and everyone praised him.” Luke 4:36 “All the people were amazed and said to each other, “What words these are! With authority and power he gives orders to impure spirits and they come out!” 40 At sunset, the people brought to Jesus all who had various kinds of sickness, and laying his hands on each one, he healed them. 41 Moreover, demons came out of many people, shouting, “You are the Son of God!” But he rebuked them and would not allow them to speak, because they knew he was the Messiah.” The disciples showed us that we too can be like Jesus and do what he did.
So this Pentecost Sunday we have to come to terms with whether or not you believe there is power available to all who believe just like Stephen had, Peter had, Gideon had David had. Do you not want the same for you? I know when I was reading, I am sure satan was whispering in your ear saying God will not. You must also understand that we live in a time where God has turned his face from shining on us because of our unbelief. The answer is simple there is no power as described in scripture. Deception has deceived millions upon millions of Christians and they have turned from the truth. 2 Timothy 4:3 “For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. 4 They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.” 2 Timothy 2:17 “Their teaching will spread like gangrene.”
Last week I shared a quote from John Piper whom I see struggling with theology yet leading people and still following in the doctrines of man. This statement sums up the church today. He said, “Virtually all the great pastors and teachers of history that I admire and that have fed me over the years belong to the first group who believe that signs and wonders were only for the apostolic age (John Calvin, Martin Luther, John Owen, Jonathan Edwards, George Whitefield, Charles Spurgeon, Benjamin Warfield, my own father). But I am not fully persuaded by their case.” You see the bible contradicts what man says. I like how Bev summed this up in a text to me this week. She answered the question why are we not seeing the power by saying “leadership teaches the word of mentors and not the word of God and have not seen their error.” So most follow man’s word thinking it is God’s word and the church is led further and further away from the truth. So in essence the power has ceased but that is not how it is supposed to be.
We see this in most preachers and teachers today. Most leaders and churches are following the path of some teaching by some man. You can trace their roots not to Jesus but to someone talking about Jesus from their perspective, those who distort sound doctrine. Paul said Acts 20:29 “I know that after I leave, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock. 30 Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them. 31 So be on your guard!” He also said 2 Corinthians 4:2 “We have renounced secret and shameful ways; we do not use deception, nor do we distort the word of God. On the contrary, by setting forth the truth plainly we commend ourselves to everyone’s conscience in the sight of God.” This distortion of truth has been going on since Paul said this. All you have to do is look back at all the schisms. Does that sound like truth? Catholics and Orthodox, then the Protestantism and on and on the division goes till we end up with the mess we have today. Someone told me once that the bible is up to personal interpretation. I said no its not. One writer said, “Biblical passages predicting the future are ambiguous. The events themselves are open to many interpretations.” So you are saying the bible is ambiguous or would it be better to say you have no knowledge nor are you led by the Spirit. This person says one thing; another says something completely different; everyone doing as they please. Here in lies the problem: there is only one way, one truth and one life and as we read earlier only one Spirit. So if the Spirit were leading us, we would be doing what Jesus commanded us to do in power not doing our own thing in our own strength.
Today I want to show you how we have been misled and taken down a path of deception. Proverbs 14:12 “There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death.” Proverbs 2:16 “Wisdom will save you also from the adulterous woman, from the wayward woman with her seductive words, 17 who has left the partner of her youth and ignored the covenant she made before God. 18 Surely her house leads down to death and her paths to the spirits of the dead. 19 None who go to her return or attain the paths of life.” Proverbs 9:18 “But little do they know that the dead are there, that her guests are deep in the realm of the dead.”
I want to show you two extremes and show you they are both false, one just as horrendous as the other. The problem is that in between these two extremes you have a variation of the two in every form of teaching under the sun. People will base their decisions on what has been taught and what is before them. I was applying for a job one time and had to fill out a questionnaire. The questions literally forced you to answer a certain way. Out of these three options pick one. Okay I pick number seven, the one that was not there. I said to them, you are forcing me to answer a certain way. This is what has happened with doctrines. What do you believe about this? People will respond with one of the prescribed doctrines of choice, not thinking they might be wrong. What are your thoughts on the end time? Are you dis, pre, mid post blah blah blah? If the Spirit was leading would it not make sense that the biggest event ever, that is the return of Jesus to take us home, would be clear but it is clear. 2 Peter 3:10 “But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare. 11 Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives 12 as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat. 13 But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells. 14 So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him.” We have gotten away from simply living by the word of God. We also lack fear and therefore knowledge. We now live by man’s word about God. This is wrong. Mark 7:6 “He replied, “Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you hypocrites; as it is written: “‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. 7 They worship me in vain; their teachings are merely human rules.’ 8 You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to human traditions.”
These two extremes I will show you are sickening. One looks calm and collected, the other chaotic but know this; they are both false, hence the word deception. The first rejects the power of the Holy Spirit and the second embraces satan’s masquerades. Both have Isaiah 63:10 “rebelled and grieved his Holy Spirit. So he turned and became their enemy and he himself fought against them.”  2 Timothy 3:5 “having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.” Both of these groups are not testing the Spirit.
The first is a panel discussing John MacArthur’s strange fire and the second is Benny Hinn on the Ivory coast and Greenville South Carolina. Lord I pray you will protect our minds as we watch these. Bind whatever satan will try to do. So the first will be a discussion of what is not and the second is what is not even though it will look like it is because of the appearance of power.
    1. Strange Fire Panel - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RhG2CBVQy3w 6:11-9:59; 29:22 – 32:15
So before the sermon we sang Light the Fire again. That is what we are praying for.
    2. Benny Hinn - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KWf9kJZIgHQ
    0:00 – 0:44 by the way not God’s glory
    3.Benny Hinn https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J43lGPPy000 Stop 0:00-2:28
In the first video Hinn was simply waving his jacket around. Yes you are going to think woe, that Benny Hinn is wild. You would be correct but the rejection of the power of the Holy Spirit is to. Both videos were referring to fire. Now right now your focus is on Benny Hinn because the other looked so subdued. So yes it would be easy to agree with the panel that this is demonic. The truth is, it is demonic but so is the other. This is not the Holy Spirit or His fire or His glory. The presence of the Lord is not there. Even just a hint of discernment would tell you this. This is not fake but satan working and deceiving. I am talking about both videos, MacArthur and Hinn. Where it gets really hard and great discernment is needed is when listening to the likes of the panel. Jesus warned us when he said, Matthew 24:22 “If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened. 23 At that time if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Messiah!’ or, ‘There he is!’ do not believe it. 24 For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. 25 See, I have told you ahead of time.” But understand this, as you watched the video of the panel, the demonic was at work in discussing strange fire. Their doctrines of demons do not come from God. It was just as evil as the Benny Hinn crusade. The very thing they discussed about the charismatics should be said about them. They actually described themsleves in the second part of the video. Even though they mocked the fire from heaven they should fear as Ananias and Sapphira where in the New Testament. I would say that is a pretty good description of fire from heaven. Acts 5:3 “Peter said, “Ananias, how is it that Satan has so filled your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit. You have not lied just to human beings but to God. 9 Peter said to her, “How could you conspire to test the Spirit of the Lord? Listen! The feet of the men who buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out also.” Even though the fire represents the Holy Spirit they deny and only refer to it as judgment when the world ends. They have indoctrinated themselves to cover up the missing power by denying the Holy Spirit. I guess they missed this verse where Paul says in 2 Timothy 1:6 “For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. 7 For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.” Acts 6:6 They presented these men to the apostles, who prayed and laid their hands on them.” Stephen was one of those men who full of God’s grace and power, performed great wonders and signs among the people. That verse is there for a reason as it debunks the teaching that only apostles performed signs and wonders. Acts 8:14 “When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had accepted the word of God, they sent Peter and John to Samaria. 15 When they arrived, they prayed for the new believers there that they might receive the Holy Spirit, 16 because the Holy Spirit had not yet come on any of them; they had simply been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 17 Then Peter and John placed their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.” Acts 9:17 “Then Ananias went to the house and entered it. Placing his hands on Saul, he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord—Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you were coming here—has sent me so that you may see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit.” Acts 19:5 “On hearing this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 6 When Paul placed his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied. 7 There were about twelve men in all.” So we have men teaching there are no apostles, no fire, no power available because it stopped yet the charismatics are the evil ones?
I showed you two extremes in the videos and they were both filled with deception. Both videos talked of fire. One said it was meant for destruction and the other meant the presence of the Holy Spirit was there. They are both wrong. Fire references are not all bad just like flood references are not always bad. Yes a flood destroyed the earth but God also said Malachi 3:10 “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it. Some say power stopped because Paul told timothy to drink a little for his stomach ailment. One person said, “Why did Paul not heal Trophimus? Honestly, because the power to heal didn't originate from within Paul. It came from God, and God could and apparently did choose to slowly withdraw the gift of miraculous healing from the Early Church.” Not what the bible says. This is what happens when the church is not led by the Holy Spirit. Yet Elisha one of the most powerful men in the bible. 2 Kings 2:9 “When they had crossed, Elijah said to Elisha, “Tell me, what can I do for you before I am taken from you?” Elisha replied, “Let me inherit a double portion of your spirit.”  2 Kings 13:14 “Elisha had been suffering from the illness from which he died.” 20 Elisha died and was buried. Now Moabite raiders used to enter the country every spring. 21 Once while some Israelites were burying a man, suddenly they saw a band of raiders; so they threw the man’s body into Elisha’s tomb. When the body touched Elisha’s bones, the man came to life and stood up on his feet.” Don’t worry there will be power available once again in spite of these ludicrous arguments. We are told in James 5:4 “Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. 16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”
The deception of these false prophets is extreme and not every false prophet will be as extreme as Benny Hinn and John MacArthur. You will find variations of these men throughout the church. What I am about to say might shock you but there is no right way between these two extremes. They are all wrong. As soon as you indoctrinate yourself with man’s ideas and stop being led by the Spirit, you are off track. I will say they actually show you and tell you that the power has ceased and therefore they are not led by the Spirit because there is only one Spirit. Stephen said, Acts 7:51 “You stiff-necked people! Your hearts and ears are still uncircumcised. You are just like your ancestors: You always resist the Holy Spirit! 52 Was there ever a prophet your ancestors did not persecute? They even killed those who predicted the coming of the Righteous One. And now you have betrayed and murdered him— 53 you who have received the law that was given through angels but have not obeyed it.” The same can be said today as most will not listen. If man is teaching against the gifts of the Holy Spirit and I say this carefully. Should we not be fearful when teaching things about the Holy Spirit that are not true on both sides. Mark 3:29 “but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; they are guilty of an eternal sin.” Peter explains this further. 2 Peter 2:1 “But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them—bringing swift destruction on themselves.”  12 But these people blaspheme in matters they do not understand. They are like unreasoning animals, creatures of instinct, born only to be caught and destroyed, and like animals they too will perish. 17 These people are springs without water and mists driven by a storm. Blackest darkness is reserved for them. 18 For they mouth empty, boastful words and, by appealing to the lustful desires of the flesh, they entice people who are just escaping from those who live in error. 19 They promise them freedom, while they themselves are slaves of depravity.”
These men will not listen to these words and will continue to deceive the masses. After Stephen said those words in Acts 7:54 “When the members of the Sanhedrin heard this, they were furious and gnashed their teeth at him. 55 But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked up to heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. 56 “Look,” he said, “I see heaven open and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.” 57 At this they covered their ears and, yelling at the top of their voices, they all rushed at him, 58 dragged him out of the city and began to stone him.” These men will not listen. Not only will they not listen, those they teach won’t either. Now yes people will leave and go somewhere else but only for the same teaching in another form. Someone will scratch their ears for them.
You can’t say I don’t want to be charismatic so I will be Baptist or Methodist. There is no middle. It is not one or the other but none of the above. God said in Hebrews 10:29 “How much more severely do you think someone deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified them, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace? 30 For we know him who said, “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” and again, “The Lord will judge his people.” 31 It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.” This desolation is dreadful.  It is not whether you are Baptist or Catholic or Pentecostal. It is whether you are a Christian. By believing you are a born again Baptist baptized in water or a born again Pentecostal baptized by the Spirit, you are both deceived as your doctrines will separate you from the kingdom of God.
When you listen to the panel you do not see authority but men in suits talking about what they believe the bible says, all the while rejecting the word of God. In their rejection of the chaotic charismatic, which is right by the way, they themselves reject the word of God to prove their doctrines correct. They condemn fire, glory and the anointing all in one sitting. It’s as demonic as the coat waver. Neither of these are truth but only false prophets leading the church astray. In the second part you can see with Justin Peters talking about himself describing the charismatics but doing the same thing himself and following a false prophet. Yes these men have all the answers and give the appearance they are doctrinally sound but they are not because no where does scripture say we should not be longing for the anointing and the Glory of God to be present. Pentecost was not a one-time event as Acts clearly showed us. Even MacArthur mumbled through the other events in Acts. If it was a one-time event there would have been no others description of the people being filled.
We are now the temple and like the temple we too will be filled. 2 Chronicles 7:1 “When Solomon finished praying, fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices, and the glory of the Lord filled the temple. 2 The priests could not enter the temple of the Lord because the glory of the Lord filled it. 3 When all the Israelites saw the fire coming down and the glory of the Lord above the temple, they knelt on the pavement with their faces to the ground, and they worshiped and gave thanks to the Lord, saying, “He is good; his love endures forever.” Acts 2:1 “When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. 2 Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. 4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.” Sound familiar. Yes we will continue to pray for fire but also that God will make our words like fire once again. In a passage against false prophets God said to Jeremiah, Jeremiah 23:29 “Is not my word like fire,” declares the Lord, “and like a hammer that breaks a rock in pieces?” Yes we want the fire from heaven to fall on us once again. We are the temple that is to be filled. 1 Corinthians 3:16 “Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst?” 1 Corinthians 6:19 “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? That is how it is supposed to be. Romans 12:1 “Therefore, I urge you in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.” 1 Peter 2:4 As you come to him, the living Stone—rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him— 5 you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.”
We are the offering that God will consume and then live among us. 2 Chronicles 7:14 “if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 15 Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place. 16 I have chosen and consecrated this temple so that my Name may be there forever. My eyes and my heart will always be there.” So know that what we have been raised with is wrong and we have been deceived but we have great hope as God will keep his promise to David. 2 Chronicles 6:16 “Now, Lord, the God of Israel, keep for your servant David my father the promises you made to him when you said, ‘You shall never fail to have a successor to sit before me on the throne of Israel, if only your descendants are careful in all they do to walk before me according to my law, as you have done.”
So we wait for the power of God to change our hearts once again. 1 Samuel 10:6 “The Spirit of the Lord will come powerfully upon you, and you will prophesy with them; and you will be changed into a different person. 7 Once these signs are fulfilled, do whatever your hand finds to do, for God is with you. 8 “Go down ahead of me to Gilgal. I will surely come down to you to sacrifice burnt offerings and fellowship offerings, but you must wait seven days until I come to you and tell you what you are to do.” 9 As Saul turned to leave Samuel, God changed Saul’s heart, and all these signs were fulfilled that day. 10 When he and his servant arrived at Gibeah, a procession of prophets met him; the Spirit of God came powerfully upon him, and he joined in their prophesying.”
Acts 1:4 “On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. 5 For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.” 6 Then they gathered around him and asked him, “Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?” 7 He said to them: “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. 8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

We must submit to the truth and turn away from false gospels.
Deuteronomy 4:23 "Be careful not to forget the covenant of the Lord your God that he made with you; do not make for yourselves an idol in the form of anything the Lord your God has forbidden. 24 For the Lord your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.”
