Day 27: Exposed

Yesterday we talked about the rise and fall of the arrogant. In Esther we saw the rise and fall of Haman who in His arrogance thought he could defeat Mordecai. He did not know that God would be fighting against him and there was no way he would succeed. I talked about the malicious person who would be found out. Haman was this person. Proverbs 26:24 “Enemies disguise themselves with their lips, but in their hearts they harbor deceit. 25 Though their speech is charming, do not believe them, for seven abominations fill their hearts. 26 Their malice may be concealed by deception, but their wickedness will be exposed in the assembly.” Haman used the power of the king to do his dirty work for him. But in the end he was exposed.  Proverbs 6:16 “There are six things the Lord hates, seven that are detestable (an abomination) to him: 17 haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, 18 a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, 19 a false witness who pours out lies and a person who stirs up conflict in the community.” Haman fit this description perfectly. There are many who disguise themselves with their lips but God hates this and these people will not get away with their deception. Many will think they will get away with their lies but God sees and in His time will make truth known.
These people forget that God sees what everyone else doesn’t see. Job said Job 24:11 “There are those who rebel against the light. He thinks no eye will see me.” 1 Samuel 16:7 “But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” You can’t hide from God. Proverbs 15:3 “The eyes of the Lord are everywhere, keeping watch on the wicked and the good.” People think they can mouth empty words and not be found out but as Isaiah said Isaiah 29:13 “The Lord says: “These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship of me is based on merely human rules they have been taught. 14 Therefore once more I will astound these people with wonder upon wonder; the wisdom of the wise will perish, the intelligence of the intelligent will vanish.” 15 Woe to those who go to great depths to hide their plans from the Lord, who do their work in darkness and think, “Who sees us? Who will know?”
Jesus also said Matthew 15:7 “You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you: 8 “‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. 9 They worship me in vain; their teachings are merely human rules. 13 He replied, “Every plant that my heavenly Father has not planted will be pulled up by the roots.” Jesus said in Matthew 12:34 “You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.” The good news is that the arrogant and malicious enemies will not get away will their evil schemes. They will be exposed for who they are!
