Jesus said in John 14:6 “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” Jesus then goes on to say “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. 11 Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves. 12 Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.
A long time ago a pastor would pray for me and called me Phil instead of Paul while he prayed. I would smile and think that’s okay, a simple mistake. On the other hand, maybe it was a bit prophetic. I want to know Jesus so desperately. That is why the bible is my only source. Unfortunately I have been robbed just like many of you because I have grown up like Gideon in captivity. Then one day God appeared and I asked, where are the wonders our ancestors talked about. I am still on the journey but God is faithful, as he has connected me with a total stranger who has become my brother.
Yesterday I spent the day with my new brother in Christ in Toronto. As he shared I felt more and more solemn as I realized how far away I was from being a true Christian and seeing the work of Jesus Christ in my life. I realized that we have been robbed of the joy of the Lord because of the empty way of life that was handed down to us from our ancestors / forefathers. (1 Peter 1) They have only handed down to us things that will perish, “things like gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw.” They have handed down to us a form of godliness but no power. This empty way of life is void of signs and wonders. In the underground church they go house to house and ask is there anything you need that we can pray for. Signs and wonders follow and they say now come to church. Here in North America we go to church and try to entice people to follow us with man made ideas but no power. I hope this sickens you as much as it does me. Are you tired of the empty way? Are you tired of not seeing the power of God? Are you tired of listening to teaching about the empty way? As we humble ourselves and turn from our wicked ways know that you have been bought with a price. Know that if you seek Him you will find Him. We have hope because “you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God. 18 For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.”
Psalm 85:6 “Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you?” Habakkuk 3:2 Lord, I have heard of your fame; “I stand in awe of your deeds, Lord. Repeat them in our day, in our time make them known; in wrath remember mercy.”
