1 Samuel 17:45 “David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. 46 This day the Lord will deliver you into my hands, and I’ll strike you down and cut off your head. This very day I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds and the wild animals, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel. 47 All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.”

Samuel had anointed David earlier. 1 Samuel 16:13 “So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and from that day on the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon David.” The enemy does not go down without this power, the anointing of the Holy Spirit. I find it interesting that Israel were all afraid to fight the enemy who were defying their God. “10 Then the Philistine said, “This day I defy the armies of Israel! Give me a man and let us fight each other.” 11 On hearing the Philistine’s words, Saul and all the Israelites were dismayed and terrified,” except for David who was offended by the words of Goliath and said, “who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he should defy the armies of the living God and challenged him to fight.” David knew that victory was his because his God was with him. He knew the battle was the Lord’s and stood against the enemy knowing that victory was his.

In order for us to take the land once again we need this power against our enemies once again. When this happens the whole world will once again know there is a God in Israel. Please continue to pray that God will pour out his Spirit on us once again so that we may stand against our enemies in victory.
