It really comes down to a choice as to who you will believe in. Will you listen to the mockers or will you listen to God? Will you listen to what man has to say about what they think concerning the universe or will you listen to the one who spoke creation into existence? I would like to return briefly to the theory of everything because you have to decide who is the answer to that theory. You have to decide if “in the beginning God created” and once you decide, this belief changes everything. If you can’t decide, confess your sin. Deuteronomy 30:19 “This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live 20 and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the Lord is your life, and he will give you many years in the land he swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.” Joshua 24:15 “But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” One way or the other you believe either God exists or he doesn’t with eternal consequences.
Today I noticed on the CBC website that Stephen Hawking before he died had written another theory as to the existence of other universes. “The concept of the multiverse stems from Hawking's big bang theory — the once controversial, but now widely accepted idea that the universe instantaneously expanded from a tiny point called a singularity.” “Physicists believe the universe grew to astounding proportions in a trillionth of a second after the big bang.” “Hawking predicted that our big bang was just one in an infinite number of big bangs that occurred simultaneously — each of them creating its own separate universe.”
So who do you believe; the God who spoke or the man who spoke about it? Remember they are trying to figure out what is already before them as their theories are about God’s creation. I think this little story sums this up nicely. “God is sitting in Heaven, when a scientist says to him, "Lord, we don't need you anymore.  Science has finally figured out a way to create life out of nothing, in other words, we can do what you did in the Beginning." "Oh, is that so?  Tell me," replies God. "Well," says the scientist, "we can take dirt and form it into the likeness of you and breathe life into it, thus creating man."  "Well, that is interesting, show me." So the scientist bends down to the earth and starts to mold the soil. "Oh no, no, no," interrupts God. Get your own dirt." Hawking stated, “Religion believes in miracles, but they are not compatible with science.” “The physicist explains that science now offers more convincing explanations for existence.” Really? They even say they believe in infinite possibilities and that in a trillionth of a second the universe came into existence. I believe the infinite God (Psalm 90:2 “Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the whole world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God; Revelation 1:8 "I am the one who is, who always was, and who is still to come--the Almighty One") spoke and everything came into existence and it will end just as quick. 1 Corinthians 15:51 “Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed— 52 in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.” They say that everything came from nothing, so nothing exploded and produced a perfectly ordered world out of nothing and then will end in nothing. How depressing for them? As we all know, in order for there to be an explosion there are very specific conditions. I have never seen on the news where a terrorist blew something up without a device of some sort. I came across this example of a dust explosion. “There are five necessary conditions for a dust explosion: A combustible dust, the dust is suspended in the air at a sufficiently high concentration, there is an oxidant (typically atmospheric oxygen), there is an ignition source, the area is confined - a building can be considered an enclosure.” No matter what type of explosion, nothing will explode from nothing nor will it explode into something. Why do these lawmakers not follow their own laws? Where did the particle come from? Therefore your Particle is your god?
Explosions aside, who do you put your faith in? A man, a god particle, an explosion or Revelation 1:8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.” Revelation 22:13 “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.” Yes in the end you can’t prove either one as it is only by faith that you believe either God created or that nothing exploded into something. Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. 2 This is what the ancients were commended for. 3 By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.” So if you believe in the nothing at the beginning then there is nothing at the end but you are gambling your eternal life away. If you believe in the creator, Psalm 146:6 “the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them—he remains faithful forever.” And if you believe Colossians 1:5 “the Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. 17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together,” then you have to believe in His laws and anticipate what he has prepared. John 14:2 “My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?” 1 Corinthians 2:9 “It is written: “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived”— the things God has prepared for those who love him.” Do you really want to go the place prepared for satan? Matthew 25:41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.” The bible tells us John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.”
Yes you can refuse to believe but by doing so you are refusing the one Matthew 10:28 “who can destroy both soul and body in hell.” You are gambling with your life and those around you. Hebrews 12:25 “See to it that you do not refuse him who speaks. If they did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, how much less will we, if we turn away from him who warns us from heaven? 26 At that time his voice shook the earth, but now he has promised, “Once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens.” 27 The words “once more” indicate the removing of what can be shaken—that is, created things—so that what cannot be shaken may remain. 28 Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, 29 for our “God is a consuming fire.” How arrogant to think that God does not exist but even worse than that is how so-called christians can even question the word of God because they have been heavily influenced by these mockers. I was in a meeting one time that was required to understand the beliefs of a denomination and the man leading had the audacity to question whether it was actually six days. He left it open to other possibilities. Many have been deeply influenced by science but where is science when you die and where will it be when stand before Lord God Almighty?
The bible is our source from God himself and we must listen to His word. 2 Peter 1:19 “We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. 20 Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. 21 For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.” The god particle or other theories are just that; theories by man in an attempt to explain something already before them. These men and women will come and go. 1 Peter 1:24 “All people are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall, 25 but the word of the Lord endures forever.” And this is the word that was preached to you.”
These men and their ideas will fade away but God’s word will stand as it has until now and will continue to stand until Jesus returns and for everlasting. Until then do not listen to these other voices because this is satan deceiving the world until his time ends. Yes believing in God’s word is not the popular thing and yes most have turned away but as Jesus said, Matthew 10:22 “You will be hated by everyone because of me, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.” David prayed Psalm 56:1 “Be merciful to me, my God, for my enemies are in hot pursuit; all day long they press their attack. 2 My adversaries pursue me all day long; in their pride many are attacking me. 3 When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. 4 In God, whose word I praise— in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me? 5 All day long they twist my words; all their schemes are for my ruin. 6 They conspire, they lurk, they watch my steps, hoping to take my life. 7 Because of their wickedness do not let them escape; in your anger, God, bring the nations down. 8 Record my misery; list my tears on your scroll — are they not in your record? 9 Then my enemies will turn back when I call for help. By this I will know that God is for me. 10 In God, whose word I praise, in the LORD, whose word I praise— 11 in God I trust and am not afraid. What can man do to me? 12 I am under vows to you, my God; I will present my thank offerings to you. 13 For you have delivered me from death and my feet from stumbling, that I may walk before God in the light of life.” Psalm 37:7 “Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.”
For the people who reject God, their condemnation is at hand. That is easily understood and needs no explanation but what the church needs to understand is that just as those like Hawking have led many astray, inside the church are wolves in sheep’s clothing doing the same thing. 2 Peter 2:1 “But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them—bringing swift destruction on themselves. 2 Many will follow their depraved conduct and will bring the way of truth into disrepute. 3 In their greed these teachers will exploit you with fabricated stories. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping” just as it will be for those who have listened to them. Jeremiah 5:31 “The prophets prophesy lies, the priests rule by their own authority, and my people love it this way. But what will you do in the end?
We serve the God who answers when we call. We serve the God “who is, and who was, and who is to come.” We serve the God who expects and helps us to be blameless. 2 Peter 3:14 “So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him.” 1 Thessalonians 5:23 “May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” If you have listened to the so-called knowledge of the fools, (Psalm 10:4 “In his pride the wicked man does not seek him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God.” Psalm 14:1 “The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good”) then repent before God and turn from those wicked ways. Return to believing “In the beginning God…” because if you don’t / won’t; what will you do in the end?
In conclusion I would like to add that this is written for the wavering christian. This is not meant to be an argument against the atheist or evolutionist. Unless God moves in a mighty way I don’t think you can win that argument. Men like Hawking will find out later that they lost while presently on this earth they are praised. In the story about the rich man and the beggar Lazarus we see this described. Luke 16:27 “He answered, ‘Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my family, 28 for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.’ 29 “Abraham replied, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.’ 30 “‘No, father Abraham,’ he said, ‘but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.’ 31 “He said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.’” Luke goes on to say in Luke 17:1 “Jesus said to his disciples: “Things that cause people to stumble are bound to come, but woe to anyone through whom they come. 2 It would be better for them to be thrown into the sea with a millstone tied around their neck than to cause one of these little ones to stumble. 3 So watch yourselves.”
This is written so that you will not be afraid to take hold of the bible and stake your life and reputation on it. Psalm 56:4 “In God, whose word I praise— in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?” Yes, you will be mocked by those outside and inside the church but as Job said, Job 19:25 “I know that my redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand on the earth. 26 And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God; 27 I myself will see him with my own eyes—I, and not another. How my heart yearns within me!” Hold fast and stand firm on God’s word.
