Today is our first Advent Sunday. Our focus over this Advent season will be a continued focus on returning to the Heart of Worship. During these four Sundays we will emphasis again how important it is to wait on God. Psalm 40 says, “I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. 2 He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. 3 He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in him. 4 Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord.” We will be using the word WAIT as an acronym. Today at the Rock we will be looking at the first letter “W” and will be talking about willing obedience. As we return to the heart of worship so far we have seen that obedience is the most important thing we can do when following God. If we trust in God as the Psalmist said then we wait for him. Saul was told to wait for Samuel so that he would know what to do. Sadly he did not and many others will not wait on God. Ezekiel 3:7But the house of Israel will not be willing to listen to you, for they are not willing to listen to me: because all the house of Israel have a hard forehead and a stubborn heart.” 23 butI gave them this command: Obey me, and I will be your God and you will be my people. Walk in obedience to all I command you, that it may go well with you. 24 But they did not listen or pay attention; instead, they followed the stubborn inclinations of their evil hearts. They went backward and not forward. 25 From the time your ancestors left Egypt until now, day after day, again and again I sent you my servants the prophets. 26 But they did not listen to me or pay attention. They were stiff-necked and did more evil than their ancestors. When we come before God with a willing heart to obey his word, He is more than enough. Exodus 36 “The people were restrained from bringing, 7 for the material they had was sufficient to do all the work and more God commanded them to do”.Judges 5 says, “When the princes in Israel take the lead, when the people willingly offer themselves— praise the Lord! Are you willing to be obedient to the whole counsel of God’s word?

Prayer: Offer yourself as a willing servant of God who will obey His word.
