As each day passes I am seeing more and more how important it is to have the bible central in all we do. At one point in my life I did not know how important it was. Not only is it important, everything we do must be based on it. We talk about Jesus but do we listen to his words; do we use it to live by? It must be central in our lives, our families, our conversations, our hopes, our sorrows, in life and in death. When we come to the point there is no other book (not a book but the living word of God) in which we can put our hope, we will see the promises of God. I am still amazed at how the bible is talked about but not really used or believed. I had a conversation the other day and was amazed that the bible was not the period in all things spiritual. There was a distinction between the bible and the Spirit. There is no distinction and the two are one. John 14:26 “But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.” We worship in spirit and in truth, God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The Spirit helps us fulfil the word of God in power. Too many people have separated the Holy Spirit from the bible and that’s where you get chaos. They say this was the result of the Holy Spirit. They have all kinds of teaching they say is of the Holy Spirit but not found in scripture. How do you know if you cannot find anything like it in scripture? The Holy Spirit and the Word of God cannot be separated. When it does get separated you get so called revivals with lots of craziness like people barking like dogs, laughing like hyenas and people flopping around on the ground like fish out of water, all in the name of God. In the end there is no fruit just a bunch of people being deceived. The sad part is this usually is what Jesus was casting out.
We need to know our bibles inside and out. No bible - no truth; Know bible - know truth. We need to live out God’s word. These are a couple of key verses; “As for me and my house we will serve the Lord.” and Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”
If your bible is central on your bookshelf or your coffee table, make a change and make it central in your life.
