When Will We Learn?

Well another false prediction for the end of the world goes by the way side. We are sitting here on December 22, 2012 with the results of a snowstorm and no apocalypse. When will we learn that no one knows the date except the Father? For the most part people ignored these warnings by the Mayans but I would bet that it caused people to think; what if this really was the end? These predictions have been taking place all through time and not one of them has been right. The sad part of this is people will ignore the warnings and do nothing to prepare for the real end. The bible has been warning us to get ready for Jesus but most ignore the warnings just as Israel did concerning Babylon. The prophets tried to tell them but they would not listen and sure enough what was prophesied came true. The unfortunate part about all of these predictions is crying wolf with no wolf causes people to be unprepared for the real thing. When the wolf does show up, they are not ready. The bible has been telling us to live holy and blameless lives but instead the church argues whether or not a person can be holy and blameless even though scripture states it to be so. The return of Jesus Christ is guaranteed in scripture but most Christians do not take it seriously and are unprepared for His return. Part of this is bad theology but a bigger part is we have been very comfortable with our lives in this world and have taken our focus off the eternal life and placed it on the temporal. We live for the here and now and not for the ever after. When the real end comes we do not want to be saying oops that was really the end. At that point it will be too late to change. I think we can all agree that the world will end. Instead of living in fear or indifference we need to live holy lives and be at peace with God. Peter states in 2 Peter 3 - "Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. As a Christian we should be prepared and ready for the return of Jesus. Our lives and our churches should look like the body of Christ. If it doesn’t we make the changes through repentance. We ask the Holy Spirit to change us and then we live wholehearted, obedient lives. Can you say today that you are living a holy and Godly life? The answer has to come from scripture. If your life lines up with scripture then you can say yes, otherwise make the changes on your knees. The King is coming. Are you ready?
