Swift Flight

How many times have you prayed and wondered about the answer? The Snowbirds may be to help with that. While at the air show in Kitchener a few weeks ago my son and I were able to see the Snowbirds perform. The weather was acting up but it turned out okay and the planes took off to begin their performance. We could see really well right at the airport but it was very easy to loose visual contact with them as they headed off into the horizon. At that point everyone is looking for them wondering from which direction they would show up because you knew they would, just not where. Jeff and I were standing at the centre of the show, which meant the planes would be coming right at us. At one point the planes went off in different directions and we lost them. All of a sudden the lights of the Snowbirds appeared straight in front of us. They had regrouped and were preparing for their next demonstration of their capabilities. This particular move looked like fireworks as each plane went in different directions as they approached the audience. I don’t know what the move is called but the word majestic describes it pretty well. As I thought about this I could not help but think about praying. When we pray, we cannot always see the answer coming but just as the Snowbirds are getting into formation so is God’s answer to our prayer. Yes you may not be able to see until it is right there but it is coming. Daniel prayed and said in Daniel 9:20 “While I was speaking and praying, confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel and making my request to the Lord my God for his holy hill— 21 while I was still in prayer, Gabriel, the man I had seen in the earlier vision, came to me in swift flight about the time of the evening sacrifice. 22 He instructed me and said to me, “Daniel, I have now come to give you insight and understanding. 23 As soon as you began to pray, a word went out, which I have come to tell you, for you are highly esteemed.” First of all we must pray as Daniel prayed in confession. It is so important that God sees us as highly esteemed. Without confession of our sins we cannot be highly esteemed. This is a key element to our prayers being answered. If we are praying as Daniel was, you know God has heard you. Some prayers are answered quickly and some are not. Some prayers are not always answered as fast as we would like but we know God’s timing and answer is always right. Understanding the course of time or due time is very important for us to grasp. So as you pray, know that God is preparing the answer, just be patient.
