As we have been focusing on preparing the way of the Lord, there is one crucial element many leave out of the equation and that is the Holy Spirit. Acts 1:8 “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” There are too many preparing to witness with no Holy Spirit. Before the upper room, before the sound, before the fire, before the thousands who heard in their own language and believed, Jesus said in Luke 24:45 “Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. 46 He told them, “This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, 47 and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 48 You are witnesses of these things. 49 I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.” Acts 1:4 “On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. 5 For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.” This is the key element to any kind of ministry. No matter what you think you are to do for God, do not do it without the Holy Spirit. In todays church world there are so many plans, programs, ideas etc. but so little Spirit. This is obvious because there is so little power in the church today. In a sermon I listened to, Leonard Ravenhill asked, Where is the Fire? How many of us are really willing to humble ourselves and wait on God for His fire to come upon us. Are we prepared to wait until we are clothed with power on high or are we just going to the ends of the earth anyways? Unfortunately, the anyways is winning out. There is way too much ministry being done in the name of the Lord that has nothing to do with Him. Most are not even aware that the Holy Spirit has left. Before you go to Jerusalem, to Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth, wait for the power of the Holy Spirit to come upon you. At the Rock we are waiting and praying for revival. I believe this will be the same as Pentecost. We will then see what God has planned for us. We then will be able to preach the same message Peter preached to the ends of the earth and have the same kind of results. Acts 2:38 “Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.” 40 With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.” 41 Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.” Will we wait for God to open our minds to the scriptures and pour out His Spirit upon us? Will we wait to be clothed with power from on high?
