Yesterday I talked about the numerical results of God bringing Israel out of Egypt. They came out as a great nation with a mighty hand armed for battle. When we persevere through a trial we get stronger (this is good news) but in reality it is not about us but God. Sure we will be different and we will look at life differently but in the end everything we do is for God. During the plagues in Egypt Moses kept saying, “This is what the Lord, the God of the Hebrews says, let my people go so that they may worship me”. God told Moses to confront Pharaoh and say. “Exodus 9:15 “For by now I could have stretched out my hand and struck you and your people with a plague that would have wiped you off the earth. 16 But I have raised you up for this very purpose, that I might show you my power and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.” The trial you are going through is for a purpose and that purpose is for God to be glorified. It is not about how strong you have become. No, it is about how weak you have become so that you can say it is all about Jesus not me. Philippians 4 “I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. 12 I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. 13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength.” You do not persevere to say I made it; you persevere to be mature and complete in Christ Jesus. You then can say with Paul “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” As you persevere do not waver and doubt, you stand firm on the promises of God so that He will be glorified not you. So remember as you continue to persevere, remind yourself that the ultimate goal of this journey is to worship God with all your heart, soul and mind and for the name of the Lord to be proclaimed.
